Certified Pharmacy Technician
June 2016 • Shelbyville, IN
What I liked
I love the fact that I have the opportunity to learn about medications, patients, and the different laws surrounding the pharmacy and medicine.
What I wish was different
I wish I could have been trained more thoroughly. It seems this position has a pretty steep learning curve and it took me about 6 months to get everything down. Honestly, I'm still actively learning with each day I work, but I wish I could've been taught the basics through hands on experience with another person rather than me figuring things out for myself.
Advice
Try to find someone who can actively help in your training, and always ask questions!

Management Intern
March - July 2019 • O'Fallon, MO
What I liked
I liked that I was gaining hands on experience. I has been learning so much in the classroom and I was finally able to put these theories into practice. The program trains interns for ten weeks to be a manager. I walked away with so much experience and knowledge that makes my classes easier because I have first hand examples.
What I wish was different
It would have been more beneficial if the positions they were offering after graduate required a degree. It seemed very backwards to require interns to be working on a degree but then offer interns positions that anyone without a college education can apply for.
Advice
I would say if you’re going into this position, go in with an open mind. Being in a retail store can sometimes be looked down on for an internship but I loved it. It was a very low stress position with low expectations of you until you are fully trained in all aspects. Make the most of the position because it offers a great learning environment.

Customer Service Associate
May - August 2018 • Chicago, IL
What I liked
Interacting and working together with my co-workers. Also the occasional drama and scenes caused by unruly and rude customers whose ego is larger than the sun.
What I wish was different
I wish I been paid more for the things I have to deal with. Short-change scam artists, thieves, and rude customers. I also wish I was able to gain an internship and do something that relevant with my major.
Advice
Don't wait till the end of the spring semester to start applying to jobs. Apply early since that when you will have the most opportunities. Also go to career fair even if you are freshman or sophomore so you can get your name out there. Companies keep track of this stuff and they may contact you once you enter your junior/senior year.
