POSITION DESCRIPTION

College Work Study Teaching Assistant

Job Title:                            College Work Study Teaching Assistant

Job Class:                           Teaching Assistant

Department:                       College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, Office of the Dean

Reports To:                        Dean or Dean Designee

Work Hours:                     Typical work hours: M-F from 8:30-5 pm or TBD

 

Position Purpose- The College Work Study Teaching Assistant will assist with daily instructional tasks and duties within an assigned departmental in the College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with set-up of instructional aids for lectures and labs
  2. Taking daily attendance and monitor virtual platforms
  3. Assist with organizing department events and scheduling.
  4. Attend weekly meetingand scheduled trainingsessions by the supervisor.
  5. Assist with technology set-up and monitoring and proctoring of exams .
  6. Maintaining work area by keeping the place clean and neat at all times.
  7. Provide assistant with tutoring subject areas (as applicable).
  8. Assist with recruitment activities and information sessions.
  9. Enter information into databases and create spreadsheets.
  10. Other general tasks and duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Full-time undergraduate (junior/senior) or graduate student at Howard University
  • In good academic standing with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA.
  • Committed to a minimum 15 hours per week
  • Highly organized, and self-directed with good verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, leadership skills,and time management skills.
  • Enrolled or Interest in a health profession. 
  • Demonstrate good work ethics and professional relationship building 
  • Good technical skills and ability to work with computers and learning management systems.
