The duties associated with this role include performing regular maintenance routines on a wide range of laboratory and fabrication equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This also involves calibrating equipment according to established procedures to maintain accuracy and consistency in results. The position requires maintaining a clean and organized laboratory environment by cleaning equipment and workspaces, properly sorting tools and materials, and completing general organizational tasks. In addition, the role supports ongoing laboratory improvement initiatives, which may involve light mechanical or structural design work and the use of CAD software to enhance workflows, equipment layouts, or custom components.
The role further includes hands-on involvement in design and fabrication activities, such as assisting with prototype design and participating in manufacturing processes. Upon completion of required training, the individual will operate CNC equipment, including CNC milling machines, laser cutters, and related tools, following all safety and operational guidelines. Qualified candidates should have a solid understanding of and experience with SolidWorks, as well as practical experience using hand tools and basic fabrication equipment. Attention to detail, willingness to learn, and the ability to work effectively in a technical, hands-on environment are essential for success in this position.
