CLIENT You will be working for: STATE OF TEXAS- DEPT OF TRANSPORTATION
TxDOT has issued a request for an AI/ML Engineer that will be supporting their AI Innovation team on rapid development efforts that explore and build AI-driven solutions for transportation business use cases. The ideal candidate brings strong Python skills, solid software engineering fundamentals, cloud and deployment exposure, and enough hands-on project work to build and test working AI solutions. Candidates should have a mix of both academic and professional experience with these requirements, such as AI/ML-specific coursework coupled with 1-2 years of professional work experience
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Evaluate emerging AI tools, models, and vendor solutions against TxDOT business use cases and innovation goals.
- Build proof-of-concepts, AI/ML models, and lightweight applications for prioritized use cases such as NLP, computer vision, or predictive analytics.
- Support scalable AI pipelines and collaborate with data, engineering, and software teams to integrate solutions into existing environments.
Minimum Candidate Characteristics:
- Strong Python skills with foundational knowledge of Java, C++, or Go for production-oriented development.
- Hands-on experience with object-oriented programming, unit testing, Git, CI/CD, and containerization using Docker.
- Exposure to AI/ML pipelines, model deployment, cloud AI services, and scalable inference environments such as SageMaker, Vertex AI, Azure ML, or Kubernetes.
Exceptional Candidate Characteristics:
- Experience developing real-world AI-driven solutions
