Pattern Tech 

Starting at $24 per hour and will vary dependent on skills and/or experience

SUMMARY

This is a full-time on-site role for a Pattern Maker. The Pattern Maker will be responsible for creating and designing patterns, fitting, and utilizing Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software. The role involves the regular tasks of pattern making, ensuring precision and quality, and collaborating with other team members to meet production goals.  The Patternmaker fabricates foundry patterns from various materials such as wood, metal, and plastic, for use in forming molds for castings.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintain production and non-production tools per Dimensional Checks
  • Follow instructions on work performed on tooling per Engineering repairs and changes
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills with Team Members, Management, and Engineering (verbal and written) on work done or requiring completion, to keep tooling routed through the Pattern Shop and work well within a Team
  • Ability to multi-task and safely operate multiple pieces of machinery for optimal efficiency
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear PPE according to plant requirements and guidelines
  • Follow lockout procedures and all safety policies
  • Blueprint reading – must have sufficient knowledge to make calculations and draft allowances to maintain dimensions, contours, profiles, etc.
  • Understanding of materials, tools, and tool applications
  • Must be proficient in the use of measuring tools/instruments such as dial calipers, tape measure, shrink rules, dial indicators etc.
  • Must be self-motivated and work with others in problem solving and innovation
  • The ability to prioritize multiple jobs/tasks with different deadlines, follow jobs in progress with verbal and written instructions
  • Must have experience running lathes, mills, grinders, drill presses, table saw, band saw, and other manual/CNC machines and equipment
  • Experience using 3D CAD data in CNC programming, with preference in Creo (a plus)

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

A working knowledge of aluminum castings is helpful but not required. 

  • At least six (10) years of related experience as a Pattern Maker and/or combination of experience on the job.
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Must be willing to work overtime hours, including weekends.
  • High School Diploma

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common communication from Supervisor. Ability to respond to common inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 

 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to do elementary mathematics.

The plant noise levels are occasionally loud and very hot in the summer months.
