Program Facilitator

Summary of Position

Girls Inc. of the Valley inspires all girls to be Strong, Smart, and Bold through evidence-based programming that supports leadership, academic success, and social-emotional development. Our center-based programs serve youth ages 5–14 through hands-on, engaging, and community-rooted experiences.

We are seeking motivated, compassionate, and community-driven interns to support our EEC-licensed after-school and youth development programs. This internship offers a meaningful opportunity to gain hands-on experience in education, youth development, and community-based leadership.  Interns will work closely with program staff to support daily programming, facilitate activities, and build positive relationships with youth.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in facilitating after-school programming for youth ages 5–14 
  • Support the implementation of curriculum focused on STEM, literacy, and social-emotional learning 
  • Help lead or co-facilitate workshops (e.g., Power in Her Story, leadership development, career exploration) 
  • Build positive and supportive relationships with participants 
  • Support classroom management and group engagement 
  • Assist with preparation of materials and daily program setup 
  • Participate in team meetings, reflections, and planning sessions

  • Youth development and education practices 
  • Classroom and behavior management strategies 
  • Curriculum design and facilitation 
  • Social-emotional learning (SEL) and leadership development 
  • Community-based programming and nonprofit operations 

 

EEC Requirements & Onboarding

As an EEC-licensed program, all interns must complete the following prior to participation:

  • CORI/SORI background checks 
  • Completion of required onboarding and orientation 
  • Compliance with EEC virtual training, health, safety, and supervision guidelines 
  • Professional Qualifications Registry (PQ Registry)
  • ServSafe Training Course

Our team will guide interns through this process to ensure full support and compliance.

 

Qualifications

  • Interest in education, youth development, psychology, social work, or related fields 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment 
  • Passion for working with youth and supporting diverse communities 
  • Reliable, responsible, and proactive 

 

Commitment

Summer Program Schedule (Monday–Friday):
We offer flexible scheduling to support completion of the 240 required Lynk internship hours; however, your final schedule will be determined by your supervisor. You will also be expected to complete all required EEC and PQR trainings. Please note that the application deadline is April 30th.
