About the Opportunity

Graduating soon and starting your first full-time job? Montclair State University is conducting a research study to better understand the transition from college to the workforce for students and recent graduates with ADD/ADHD.

We are looking for participants to share their experiences through surveys, virtual interviews, and follow-up check-ins over the course of one year. Your participation could help improve future support and resources for students with ADHD entering the workforce.

Eligibility Requirements

You may qualify if you:

  • Are within three months of your graduation (e.g., if you graduated in May, you are eligible until August)
  • Are entering or searching for your first full-time job
  • Between 20 to 25 years old
  • Have or suspect you may have ADD/ADHD
    (No formal diagnosis is required.)

Note: Participants will be eligible to participate after completing and passing the screener questionnaire.

What Does Participation Involve?

Participants will take part in several study activities over the course of one year:

  • A one-hour initial survey
  • A virtual interview focused on ADD/ADHD, mood, and anxiety at the start of the study
  • Submission of a recent resume used or intended for job applications at the start of the study
  • Follow-up surveys at 6 months and 12 months covering mental health, job search experiences, workplace experiences, and support during the transition to work
  • Near the one-year mark, up to 10 participants will be invited to complete an optional individual interview about their first year of work or job searching

Only the end-of-year interviews will be recorded. No other video, audio, or photographs will be collected. We will review the study details again and ask for your consent before the interview begins.

Time Commitment

  • Initial survey: 1 hour
  • Initial interview: 1–1.5 hours
  • 6-month follow-up survey: 1 hour
  • 12-month follow-up survey: 1 hour
  • Optional individual interview: 1 hour

Compensation

You will receive in total compensation delivered as virtual gift cards. 

  • $45 for completing the baseline survey, interview, and resume submission
  • $20 for each follow-up survey (6-month and 12-month)
  • A $15 bonus for completing all parts of the study
