Supervisor of Humanities

Qualifications:                                                                                                                                       

1. Master’s degree required.
2. PA certification as Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction or Letter of Eligibility.
3. At least five (5) years of teaching experience, with a preference for both K-12 and adult education experience.
4. Experience teaching in English Language Arts is preferred.
5. Knowledge of current legislation and trends in curriculum instruction, assessment, and professional development.
6. Excellent communication and human relations skills.
7. Expertise in technology as it is integrated with curriculum and used for assessment and data collection and analysis.
8. Strong background in data analysis.
9. Must provide original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Curriculum Management: Utilizes a data-driven system and operational framework for the systematic review of curriculum design and delivery.
2. Instructional Leadership: Plans, organizes, directs, and implements ongoing data-driven professional development and the new teacher induction program while maintaining a district-wide database of training information.
3. Curricular Change: Plans, organizes, directs, and implements specific activities related to curricular change and evaluates existing and new curricular processes.
4. Assessment Oversight: In collaboration with the Director of Technology and the Director of Teaching and Learning, implements systems for data collection and analysis of all internal and external assessments related to student achievement.
5. Testing Coordination: Works with district and building administrators to determine the nature of and implement a district-wide standardized achievement and diagnostic testing program.
6. Data and Documentation: Develops and maintains a district-wide database of curriculum, assessments, and instructional strategies/best practices.
7. Supervision and Evaluation: Conducts classroom observations to monitor instructional practices.
8. Communication: Communicates district educational philosophy, goals, programs, and policies to staff, students, and the community.
9. External Liaison: Maintains contact with the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), state and national curriculum centers, and other agencies to remain current on federal or state programs and legislation.
10. Community Engagement: Assists in identifying, selecting, and using community resources, educational entities, and business partners to enhance the instructional program.
11. Professional Growth: Maintains professional development through seminars and workshops to keep abreast of the latest trends in the field and technology, disseminating this knowledge to staff members.
12. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
