Sign Language Interpreter

Help students access education through meaningful communication. We're seeking a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to support students in schools throughout the New Orleans, Louisiana area for the 2026–2027 school year. In this full-time, onsite role, you'll provide interpreting services that ensure students who are deaf or hard of hearing have equal access to classroom instruction, school activities, and educational opportunities.

Position Details

• Position: Sign Language Interpreter
• Location: New Orleans, LA Area
• Assignment Dates: August 3, 2026 – May 27, 2027
• Schedule: Full-Time
  • 35 hours per week
  • 7-hour workday with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
  • Monday through Friday, following the school calendar
• Setting: Onsite

What You'll Do

• Provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for students during classroom instruction and school activities.
• Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers.
• Interpret accurately while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
• Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to support student success.
• Participate in meetings and school activities as needed to provide interpreting services.
• Maintain appropriate documentation in accordance with district guidelines.

Required Qualifications

• Active Louisiana Department of Education certification required

• Experience interpreting in a K-12 educational setting

• Ability to build positive relationships with students and school staff
