Teaching Assistant Opportunities for Education Students

Career Teachers is recruiting enthusiastic and motivated Teaching Assistants to work in a variety of primary, secondary, and specialist schools across Sheffield and South Yorkshire. This is the perfect opportunity for students currently studying Education, Primary Education, Early Childhood Studies, Psychology, SEN, or related subjects who are looking to build practical experience in schools.

Pay Rate

💷 £95 - £105 per day (depending on role, experience, and responsibilities)

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support teachers in delivering engaging lessons and help pupils to achieve their full potential. You may work with whole classes, small groups, or individual pupils, including those with additional learning needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities
  • Providing one-to-one and small-group learning support
  • Encouraging pupil engagement and participation
  • Assisting with classroom organisation and behaviour management
  • Supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) where required
  • Helping create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
  • Monitoring and recording pupil progress when appropriate

Skills & Qualities We're Looking For

  • A genuine passion for education and supporting young people
  • Currently studying an Education-related course (or similar)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Good organisational skills and reliability
  • Confidence working with children and young people
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn

Previous experience working with children, young people, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, volunteering, or youth work is advantageous but not essential.
