Description:
The Dance Program is hiring an Artistic Operations Intern to assist with rehearsal coordination and support for productions and dance related activities throughout the academic year. The role involves working as a liaison between artistic direction, dancers, and the production crew, ensuring smooth rehearsal operations. Key duties include:
Rehearsal Support: Assist choreographer/director (note taking), organize dancers, manage breaks, and maintain a positive atmosphere.
Stage Management: Ensure timely cast attendance, set up rehearsal space, and communicate schedules/changes. (Filing rehearsal reports up until the Stage Manager is assigned for the production.)
Administrative Support: Help with attendance, schedules, contact lists, and costume fitting communications. Relays to appropriate student staff. Performs any additional related tasks as directed.
Leadership: manage the movement in the room. Scheduling panelists, communicating to faculty, dancers, managing music , dancers in numbers. Managing the flow of the room.
Studio Supervision: Emergency contact in the room
Communication: with faculty and DOTA staff for production needs. Managing your peers.
Notes & Documents Generation: for Juries.
Qualifications:
Dance experience (technical or performance) or relevant assisting experience is required.
Strong communication, strong listener, organization, and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
Good at multitasking, leadership skills, adaptable,
Fluency in Excell sheets, email, Microsoft teams, and ZOOM.
Ability to stand, move, and occasionally assist dancers physically during rehearsals.

Fall 2026 Availability:
Reasonable availability Monday-Friday 8:00am-6:00pm. Saturdays 9am-4pm, Sundays as requested.

Dance Institute of Washington: 3400 14th St NW, Washington, DC 20010
Spring 2027 Availability:
Monday-Friday 5:00-10:00pm, may require Saturday availability around production time.
Primary Work Site:
Chadwick A Boseman College of Fine Arts, basement level dance studio.
