Graduate Teaching Assistant (Occupational Therapy)

Graduate Assistant – Teaching Assistant (TA), Department of Occupational Therapy (6 credits)

Qualifications
Full-time graduate student at Howard University in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA. Candidate must be highly organized, and self-directed with good verbal and written communication skills. Candidate should also demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, leadership skills, and good interpersonal skills. Health related experience preferred. Computer literacy required.

General Duties and Responsibilities
Full-time graduate student will work independently under the supervision of the Chairperson in the Department of Occupational Therapy and assigned direct supervisor (graduate advisor) to assist with organizing events, scheduling, setting-up for lecture/labs, proctoring exams, grading papers, consulting, tutoring and periodic teaching.

Specific Duties/Responsibilities
a. Assist with organizing department events and scheduling;
b. Grade homework and exams for assigned courses and maintain written records of all grades earned by students in consultation with the course instructor;
c. Proctor for tests, including quizzes, mid-term and final exams;
d. Prepare and present assigned lectures, and introduce to laboratory activities;
e. Provide support for lecture and lab setup and demonstrations;
f. Supervise students in performance of procedures to ensure safety, completeness and accuracy of results during lab;
g. Provide 1 to 2 hours a week tutoring/consulting students, and
h. Attend weekly meeting and scheduled training sessions by the supervisor.
