Equity, Inclusion, Diversity and Culture Internship

About Our Equity, Inclusion, Diversity & Culture (EIDC) Program
This year TechSoup has been laying the foundation to develop a formal Equity, Inclusion, Diversity & Culture (EIDC) program. One component of that foundation is our employee resource group BRIDGE (Building Respect, Inclusion, Diversity & Global Equity). The mission of BRIDGE is to help further and accelerate TechSoup’s EIDC goals and community engagement. TechSoup’s executive leadership, managers, and BRIDGE have been working diligently to ensure our initial efforts are built on and strengthened so we make more progress and dig deep for more action and more impact.

Internship Opportunity 
This internship is geared for a student interested in developing and expanding their knowledge and understanding regarding Equity, Inclusion, Diversity & Culture in the workplace. In this capacity, you will have an opportunity to research relevant EIDC topics and create compelling content for social media and program development. Scope of work includes:
 
Research & Content Creation
The research completed will guide our social media engagement and other EIDC initiatives across the organization, our network, and the nonprofits we serve. The research will include:
  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion in a global workforce
  • Statistics and data gaps
  • Trending topics
  • Affinity groups and ERGs
  • Cultural competencies
 
Program Development
  • Support the development and delivery of EIDC workshops, and discussions
  • Maintain the EIDC/BRIDGE activities calendar
  • Increase employee engagement in EIDC activities
  • Collaborate with TS staff to identify and reach out to subject matter experts and speakers in EIDC
 
Internship Eligibility
  • Enthusiasm for and interest in EIDC
  • Scope of work aligns with the student’s academic pursuit or area of study
  • Excellent writing, analytical, communication, presentation, and research skills
  • Extensive research experience; knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative strategies
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in teams
  • Overall grade point average of 3.0 (B or better)
  • All majors are welcome to apply

Responsibilities
  • Research and analyze existing data to what EIDC strategies are being utilized for the nonprofit sector
  • Gather materials and data for various projects and reports; write summaries of project findings as requested
  • Assist with the preparation and input of project-related spreadsheets, databases, websites, reports, and presentations
  • Perform qualitative analysis and/or quantitative analyses of data, using computer software as applicable
  • Verify the accuracy and validity of information gathered
  • Produce tables, graphs, fact sheets, maps, and written reports summarizing research results
  • Research topical areas as requested, including the completion of comprehensive literature and web searches
  • Develop source content for future funding proposals

Skills and Qualifications
  • Familiarity and proficiency with a variety of research methods, tools, and resources
  • Familiarity and proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in teams
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Intellectually curious and an eager problem solver
  • Self-starter and hardworking
  • Excellent writing, analytical and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and highly-organized
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage several tasks at once
  • Excellent telephone and email communication skills
 
Structure
  •  Remote internship
  • 3-4 days per week during the school year. A minimum of 20 hrs per week
  •  6 months preferred, but a minimum commitment of a 12 weeks

January 11, 2022
 
Salary
Some educational institutions require prior approval before the start of an internship. It is the responsibility of the student to check with their institution to be sure they meet any requirements before they accept a position.
