MIT Beaver Works Simulated Racing Drone TA

MIT Beaver Works is seeking fall interns to contribute to the Beaver Works Summer Institute (BWSI) Drone Racing program. BWSI is a world class educational outreach program that challenges high school students across the country to develop robust unmanned systems using state-of-the-art autonomy algorithms and sensors. TA’s will spend 8 Saturday's co-instructing the courses from 11AM - 2PM EST.

Tasks for BWSI TA'sinclude the following:

· Co-instruction of college-level course material to top high school students across the nation

· Aid students in code development for autonomous drone tasks including simulated sensor processing and course navigation

· Potential of developing new challenge courses in Unreal Engine according to student interest

Position Requirements:

· Current undergraduate students in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or other technical field, coupled with the demonstrated ability to apply talents to new fields.

· Demonstrated excellence in communication skills and the ability to convey technical concepts in a concise manner to a wide spectrum of audiences

· Interest in autonomous systems, course development, and educational instruction.

· The program runs from October 14 to December 9 2023, Saturdays, from 11AM to 2 PM EST and is being held virtually.

 

Desired Skills:

Experience programming in Python.

· Exposure to drone programming and simulation.

· Exposure to Unreal Engine and/or AirSim

· Exposure to Computer Vision and Machine Learning
