Social Media Intern

The Role

As a Social Media Intern, you'll play a vital role in developing and executing our social media strategy. You'll be responsible for creating engaging content across various platforms (Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc.), filming training sessions and Value Basketball-related content, and editing videos with a quick turnaround. You'll also have the opportunity to contribute your ideas and collaborate with the team to innovate our content strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Create 2-3 social media posts per week aligned with the content plan.
  • Attend weekly meetings to discuss strategy, review analytics, and plan upcoming content.
  • Film at least 5 hours of basketball-related content per week.
  • Blend your personal style with Value Basketball's brand voice to create engaging and cohesive content.
  • Propose ideas to enhance and innovate Value Basketball's content strategy.
  • Edit footage in real-time with a quick turnaround (1-2 days).
  • Create diverse content formats including reels, interviews, training recaps, long-form YouTube videos, podcasts, and more.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience filming sports content, with some experience filming basketball specifically is a plus.
  • 1-2 years of experience editing social media content (photos, videos, reels).
  • Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, etc.)
  • Ability to blend your personal style with a brand voice to create consistent messaging.
  • Creative and innovative with a passion for storytelling through video.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable, professional, and responsive.
  • Local to the Silver Spring Metropolitan area with access to consistent transportation.
  • Preferred
    • Familiarity or playing experience with basketball is preferred.
    • Own your own equipment (camera, mics, editing software, etc)
