Special Education Tutor
Position Summary:
Learners Emerge Preparatory is seeking enthusiastic, flexible, and experienced team players who love working with children. You will work with students up to 5th grade, either one-on-one or in a group setting up to 3 students, providing support in the areas of Reading, Math, Writing, and/or Life Skills. During each tutoring session, you will document activities, behavior, and next steps to share the student’s progress with their parents. Our ideal candidate has worked professionally with school-age students, in a special education setting, for at least one year and is comfortable tutoring in at least two of the four areas above.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create lesson plans with attention to IEP goals, grade student work, and conduct parent progress meetings
- Commit to 2-4 days per week and/or Saturday mornings
- Conduct in-person or remote learning
- Use creative, hands-on methods of learning, such as artistic expression, free play, and storytelling
- Available during Instructional Hours:
- Monday-Friday 1 p.m. -- 7 p.m. and/or Saturday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
- Minimum of 1 to 4 hours per day depending on student need
- Summer hours are 9am-1pm Monday-Friday
Basic Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to work with children of all ages
- Experience teaching children with special education needs
- Ability to multitask
- Reliable form of transportation
- Provide interactive, hands-on tutoring
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Working knowledge of educational resources like NearPod, JamBoard, Whiteboard.fi, Boom Cards
