Marketing & Event Intern

Reports to: Executive Director of the Green Transition Initiative

Location: Washington D.C. Office

Contract: 3-4 months for period August 2024-December 2024

 The Sweden-US Green Transition Initiative

The Green Transition Initiative (GTI) is a collaboration between four Swedish government agencies. Our aim is to strengthen the bilateral partnership between Sweden and the United States in research and development (R&D), innovation, trade, and investment by acting as a hub for Swedish and American companies, government agencies and partner organizations. The objectives of GTI are to support green technology implementation in the United States in sectors such as transportation, energy, industry, and smart & green buildings, and to establish Sweden as a key partner to the United States in its climate transition, as well as to create green jobs on both sides of the Atlantic. Global cooperation will support Swedish and American efforts at home, and together the two countries can bring new solutions and technologies to the rest of the world, contributing to a more sustainable future for all.

Why we need you

The Marketing & Event internship is a unique opportunity to promote collaboration between Sweden and the US and contribute to accelerating the green transition by communicating our purpose, spreading awareness, growing our brand, and coordinate events. The Marketing & Event Intern will promote Sweden and Swedish organizations as key partners in the US by creating marketing material, social media content, and driving engagement and awareness.

Responsibilities

The Marketing and Event intern will work closely with their assigned Project Manager. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Drive online communication to promote awareness and reach
  • Creating and publishing the monthly newsletter for GTI
  • Creating social media content and post regularly to drive engagement and reach, primarily on LinkedIn
  • Improve and update the GTI website
  • Support with program and event management for events, including research and organizing catering, venue, merch, etc.
  • Support in presentation preparation

Qualifications

Education, Relevant Courses, & Tech Skills

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelors or Master degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or similar field
  • Either completed or actively studying courses specific to marketing and advertising
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

A Plus

  • Previous experience working in marketing and communications
  • Experience working in an international environment
  • Ability to read and write in the Swedish language

Soft Skills

  • A self-motivated, team-player, who is humble and enthusiastic for collaboration with a positive “can do attitude”
  • Strong desire to contribute and make a difference in sustainability and business

 

You will work from our office in House of Sweden in Washington D.C. Both full-time and part-time hours are available, with flexibility to accommodate parallel studies.
