Social Media Intern - Howard University Women's Basketball, Athletics (FWS)

Howard University Women's Basketball is seeking dedicated and creative students for a Social Media Intern (Federal Work Study). This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in collegiate sports media, working alongside the Women's Basketball Media, Marketing, and Brandin Team to promote and enhance the visibility of the program. 

Responsibilities: 

The Social Media Intern position encompasses various facets of sports media and communication. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

1.     Capturing high-quality photos and videos of team practices, games, and events. 

2.     Designing visually engaging graphics for social media and promotional materials. 

3.     Assisting with content planning and brainstorming creative ideas for media campaigns. 

4.     Conducting interviews with players and coaching staff for articles, features, and newsletters. 

5.     Coordinating and promoting community outreach initiatives. 

6.     Supporting team projects, including managing NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) deals. 

Traveling with the team to events such as the MEAC Tournament and invitationals (optional but encouraged). 

Qualifications: 

·      Current enrollment at Howard University. 

·      Strong interest in sports media, communication, or a related field. 

·      Proficiency in design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) and/or basic photography/videography skills. 

·      Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

·      Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 

Knowledge of basketball is preferred but not required.
