Job Description:
The Mathematics Department at Howard University is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented student to join our team as a Work-Study Administrative Clerk. In this role, you will provide essential administrative support to the department while gaining valuable office experience. As an administrative clerk, you will work closely with faculty, staff, and students to ensure the smooth operation of day-to-day tasks within the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet departmental guests and assist with inquiries in a professional and friendly manner.
- File and organize departmental paperwork and records.
- Sort and distribute incoming mail and packages.
- Assist with the ordering, organizing, and inventory of office supplies.
- Verify class locations and availability for upcoming terms and assist with scheduling.
- Maintain and update departmental files and databases as needed.
- Provide general administrative support to faculty and staff as directed.
- Assist in coordinating departmental events and meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of the department.
Qualifications:
- Must be a current Howard University student enrolled in the Work-Study Program.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A positive, professional attitude and excellent customer service skills.
Hours:
- Flexible work hours, up to 20 hours per week, based on your class schedule.
