Office Assistant FWS Student - Mathematics Department

This is for work-study eligible students only. 

Howard University Mathematics Department

The Mathematics Department at Howard University is excited to announce an opportunity for students under the College Work-study Program. This program is designed to provide students with valuable work experience while they pursue their academic goals.


The Office Assistant works with the Administrative Assistant II and Office Manager of the Mathematics department.  The student will aid in daily operations of the office such as:

  • Greet and direct students and staff/faculty visiting the office.
  • Answer phones and triage to the appropriate parties.
  • File and maintain documents.
  • Aid with special design projects as needed.
  • Set-up and breakdown conference room.

Qualifications for Office Assistant:

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student at Howard University.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Basic knowledge of mathematical concepts and terminology.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and professional.
  • Great customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information, with good instincts and judgement.
  • Positive attitude and great communication skills.
